With all the attention on San Jose's dominant top line, the Sharks got key contributions from lesser-known forwards to beat the Vancouver Canucks. Dan Boyle scored the go-ahead goal on a power play 6:15 into the second period, and Evgeni Nabokov made 28 saves to lead the San Jose Sharks to a 4-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night.

For the second straight game, the Phoenix Coyotes got two goals from defensemen and beat another Pacific Division rival in the process. Sunday night, Jim Vandermeer scored his second goal of the game at 1:18 of overtime, center Matthew Lombardi also scored and Robert Lang had two assists, leading the Coyotes to a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night.

Pittsburgh Penguins left winger Matt Cooke was suspended for two games without pay by the NHL on Sunday for a deliberate check to the head area of New York Rangers center Artem Anisimov on Saturday night. Cooke, also suspended for two games in January, is considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
